In a shocking turn of events, contestants of the popular Korean game show Squid Game won’t be returning to participate in the competition next year, the television network has announced. Squid Game, a competition show where contestants compete in children games for vast sums of money, has grown into nothing less than a pop culture phenomenon. Viewers are obsessed with everything about the show, the pink uniformed guards, the creepy doll yelling “red light, green light” and even the floating piggy bank in the sky that fills with additional money after each elimination. With all of this positive feedback, the news comes as a surprise to viewers who had grown attached to several of the participants over the course of the first season. Nonetheless, the competition vows to continue on with a new batch of contestants next year. Despite the announcement, fan enthusiasm remains had an all-time high about what the new season of Squid Game will bring. What new games will be played?
